    Montessori ELEMENTARY Head Teachers lead Montessori classrooms for one of the following age groups: Lower Elementary (6 to 9 years) or Upper Elementary (9 to 12 years). They report directly to the Elementary Educational Lead and are supported by the Elementary Coordinator. This position exercises discretion and independent judgment to lead their class,, prepare the Montessori classroom environment, create materials and activities, manage one or more Assistant Teachers and/or Floaters, handle complex parent and student issues, participate in campus events and community building, etc.

    Lead the Montessori Classroom

    -Design the Montessori classroom environment

    -Create materials and designing activities as necessary for the success of the students in the classroom

    -Give sequential Montessori presentations, according to the individual needs and progress of each child, and in accordance with your Montessori training

    -Present individual, small group, and all group lessons in alignment with the Montessori curriculum

    -Track individual child progress

    -Create and maintain a safe, joyful, respectful, and positive atmosphere for the children

    -Carefully observe individual children to gain insight into their needs, and problem solve their challenges in order to meet those needs

    -Be a positive leader for one or more Assistant Teachers and/or Floaters who will support the classroom

    -Write an annual evaluation of your classroom support staff to support their professional development

    Parent Communication & Parent Education

    -Communicate proactively with parents on an informal basis, including emails and verbal conversations

    -Write progress reports twice per year

    -Conduct parent / teacher conferences twice per year

    -Hold one-on-one meetings with parents as necessary to meet the needs of individual children

    -Write regular class newsletters

    -Participate in Parent Education Events to educate parents and families about the Montessori Method and the workings of the classroom

    -Participate as needed in outreach and community building events such as open houses and holiday celebrations

    Professional Development

    -Participate in periodic professional development opportunities

    -Participate in observations with other teachers and staff (both as the observer and as the observed)

    Academic Administration

    -Engage in various administrative activities that support the school's academic programs (e.g. planning for events, participating in staff meetings or one-on-one Director meetings, etc.).

    Requirements:

    -Bachelor's degree

    -Montessori Certification for Lower Elementary by AMS, AMI, or MACTE accredited Training Institute.

    -Two years of Montessori Lower Elementary classroom teaching experience. Could include one year of being an Intern/Assistant.

    -Excellent communication skills including written and verbal communication..

    -Organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    -Works well in a team environment with a positive attitude.

    -Dedicated to providing a classroom environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for all students and staff.
