Sharing Fair Workshop Descriptions

“Early Childhood Materials in the Toddler Classroom” –Kristina McKinney (18 months-3 years)

Come find out the what/why/how /who of using classic 3-6 materials in the Toddler classroom. Don’t be shy, we think Dr. Montessori would approve!

Peace Activities for the Early Childhood Classroom and Beyond –Kathy Adams and Mel Megee (3-6)

“I am a child with a vision to share of a world of peace and a world of care…” Join us as we explore Living Legacy Sonny McFarland’s peace activities. There will be sample lessons and a time for teachers to share their own favorite peace songs and activities.

10:30-12:00 “Open Art Studio” –Mel Megee (all ages)

Come, create, chat and take some new art ideas home. This workshop is geared toward the Early Childhood classroom, but with a few tweaks and your creative mind, anything can be adapted for younger and older children alike!

10:30-10:50 “Election Time” –Aimee Allen (6-12)

Who will be the big winner this year? Will it be the endearing, but unmotivated Toad or the reliable, yet boring Frog. Join us as we take Arnold Lobel’s beloved characters and watch them unfold into Presidential Candidates. This is a great way to look at elections and the democratic process, while still leaving our parents’ politics (and our own) at the door. Collect a series of fun lessons and, of course, cast your vote for president. May the best amphibian win!

10:55-11:15 "Illuminated Manuscripts" -Gail Pederson

Illuminated manuscripts were one of the most common art forms of medieval Europe. Create and illuminate a letter and get ready to share this lost art with your students. Techniques and material provided.

12:00-12:20 "Revamping your Montessori Summer Program" –Jenna Brasch (all ages)

Does your Montessori summer program need a little extra sparkle? Come learn about new and exciting ways to increase your summer enrollment, balance the needs of your families and students, and honor the foundations of Montessori during the summer months. Come with your own creative ideas to share with the group as well!

12:00-12:20 "Early Childhood Materials in the Toddler Classroom"

12:50 – 1:10 "Peace Activities for the Early Childhood Classroom and Beyond"

1:15-1:45 “Montessori Burning Questions” Panel

Please join us for this Open Discussion about the wonderful work we are doing. What does the future hold for Montessori? Where do assessments/QRIS and common core fit in? What are we doing for marketing? How are we creating Montessori leaders for the future? All this and more. Everyone is invited! Your voice is important!
