PNMA 2020 Winter Seminar:
A Three Period Lesson on Social Justice & Montessori by Lisa Berry, Raquel Diaz & Erin Trondson - Empowering ABAR Teachers to Cultivate Inclusive Classrooms

Period 1: Introduce the Concepts - During the first section of the workshop participants will be introduced to the research by Erin R. Trondson she conducted for her master's thesis for the University of Wisconsin Madison titled: Montessori & Social Justice: the overlap, the potential, and the areas for growth. 

Period 2: Use the Terms & Vocabulary - During our second period, Raquel Diaz will further define ABAR terms and concepts as well as share her experience as a Montessori Educator.

Period 3: Practice the Work - In the final section of the workshop, Lisa Berry will share her story as an educator and social justice advocate for several decades and facilitate discussions and exercises for workshop participants to deepen their understanding of the outlined principles for equity and diversity in their classrooms and schools.

Event Speakers: Lisa, Raquel, and Erin all work at Woodland Montessori School in Madison Wisconsin.  Woodland's mission is dedicated to equity and diversity in addition to environmental stewardship and the inclusion of children with special needs. Woodland is also committed to providing professional development opportunities to Montessori educators around these three initiatives. Raquel, Lisa and Erin all attended Seton Montessori Institute and together have over 50 years of experience teaching Montessori.
