Description: Eton School, a Pre-elementary through Grade 8 independent school located in Bellevue, WA, seeks a compassionate, energetic, and creative educator to join our team as a 4th/5th Grade classroom teacher.

This person will join the Upper Elementary teaching team and lead a classroom of 4th/5th grade students engaged in a two-year cycle of learning. Beyond classroom instruction, this person will maintain proactive, ongoing communication with students, families, and colleagues, and take an active role in school life through supervisory duties, field trips, and committee participation as needed. Duties will begin in August 2026.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and sustain a classroom culture based on the mission and values of the school.
  • Bring energy and passion to the classroom, motivating students to engage actively in their own learning.
  • Employ intentional, respectful classroom management strategies that foster active learning, personal responsibility, and self-regulation.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement curriculum, both as provided by the school and in collaboration with grade level team members.
  • Create, implement, and deliver engaging and hands-on instructional curricula and daily activities that are appropriate to the grade and developmental level of the students.
  • Employ differentiated teaching strategies and collaborate with the Student Support Services Team to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with others, including administrators, colleagues, staff, and parents/guardians to maintain constructive and professional relationships.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth including collaborative curriculum development, grade-level team participation, and broad-based learning that advances the school's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Participate in the school community including team meetings, faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and special events. Responsibilities also include recess and lunch duties as assigned.
  • Support the school’s mission through professional conduct and actions which demonstrate the core values and philosophy of the organization.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required
  • Demonstrated experience teaching elementary-aged students
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; proven ability to work successfully with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and belief systems.
  • Demonstrated sense of humor, warmth, and enthusiasm for working with children
  • Commitment to partnering with families and supporting the broader school community

Salary: This is a full-time 10-month position. Salary range: $64,000 - $97,000. The wage offered will depend on education level and years of experience.

Benefits: Health benefits (including vision and dental) are available to full-time employees beginning on the first day after one full month of employment. Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan following one year and a minimum of 1,000 hours of employment; for each dollar an employee contributes, Eton School will provide a matching contribution of up to 8% of an employee's eligible compensation.
