Eton School, a Pre-K through Grade 8 independent school located in Bellevue, WA, seeks a compassionate, energetic, and creative Montessori leader to implement the school’s mission through leadership of the Pre-K through Grade 3 program (Pre-elementary and Lower Elementary).

Job Summary:

The Head of Pre-elementary and Lower Elementary is a key member of the school’s administrative team, responsible for overseeing the Montessori program for ages 3–9. This role collaborates closely with the Head of Upper Elementary and Middle School, administrative staff, the Support Staff Coordinator, faculty, and the Head of School to ensure program excellence and alignment with the school’s mission.

Essential Functions:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administrative and Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, and screen faculty candidates.
  • Organize and lead faculty meetings and in-service sessions.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team on school-wide initiatives.
  • Build and manage the annual program calendar with the Head of Upper and Middle School.
  • Work with the Director of Equity and Belonging to promote DEIB initiatives.
  • Provide input and support for admissions related to Pre-elementary and Lower Elementary.
  • Partner with the Learning Services Team to support students.
  • Foster positive communication within the school community and work in close collaboration with families to build trusting partnerships.

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Review curriculum scope and sequence.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and retain faculty.
  • Advise on class placement and offerings.
  • Coordinate enrichment schedules with the Head of Upper Elementary and Middle School.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Oversee the budget for Pre-elementary and Lower Elementary programs.
  • Collaborate on enrichment budget management with the Head of Upper and Middle School.

Professional Qualifications and Leadership Style

  • Montessori/MACTE certification required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Previous Montessori teaching experience required.
  • Prior administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizations, and program-solving abilities, coupled with effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a growth-oriented mindset that supports continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead with empathy, humility, and an equity-informed approach that fosters an inclusive school environment.
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in word processing, publishing, spreadsheets, internet software, and emerging technologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Regular computer and internet use; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

Salary: This is a full-time 12-month position with a competitive and equitable salary range based on demonstrated qualifications and experience, including professional development opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package. (Salary Range: $140,00 – $155,00)
