Session I - November 2

Different Needs: Different Approaches, presented by Catherine Nehring Massie, Maria’s thoughts and insights on classroom work among children developing both atypically and typically. She will discuss how to help all children in an environment thrive by adapting and modifying work or materials for individual children.

Occupational Therapy and Montessori: Kindred Spirits. presented by Barbara Luborsky, OTR/L, will help us understand how OT can help children whose development is not unfolding as expected. Teachers will learn how an OT can use observation in a Montessori classroom to diagnose challenges and provide help to a child’s development.

Session II - November 9

Supporting Children with Sensory Processing Challengespresented by Darlene Logan.  During this presentation Darlene will explain the sensory systems and the response to input that will make a child either overactive and explosive or (sometimes less distressing) under reactive and hesitant to participate in play, both in the classroom and on family outings. This workshop will include hand outs and sensory experiential demonstrations to help understand how a child experiences sensory processing challenges.

These workshops will be recorded and made available to registered attendees.
