Description: Our school has one position open for a full time teaching assistant or interning teacher. We can also work with part time schedules or allowance for attending classes. Discovery Montessori is a fully licensed childcare center and qualifies for Early Achiever scholarships for the ECE degree or a Montessori Credential program in WA state. Teaching staff are required to be registered in MERIT and meet all qualifications for the position.

We offer a start date of June 20 for an assistant or co-teacher to join our teaching teams in our Summer Session. A co-teacher would have either an ECE degree or be enrolled in a Montessori course. An assisting teacher would have some education and experience in early childhood education and enroll for a Montessori assistant course. Internship would be facilitated by a supervising teacher.

Our full day schedule for children is 8:30-3:00 and will include gardening, outdoor play and outings to local parks. Our 2023-24 School year is September 5 to June 14 with a 10 month contract. Together these sessions make up a year round position. Compensation is $22 to $28 hourly commensurate with education and experience. Our support staff applies understanding of child development, guides the self-care skills of children, contributes to the curriculum and routines of the class, and the care of the classroom and school materials. The opportunity to assist a Montessori guide as a partner in the class and as a colleague of our school faculty can be a pathway to a teaching career and a Montessori credential.
