Description: Montessori Guide for classroom leadership is an open position in one class. We invite a lead teacher to join our school this summer for our July 10 to August 18 Session. This will include planning and prep time for the next School Year.

Discovery offers a 10 month School Year plus Summer Sessions with 2 Early Childhood classes. School days are 8:15 to 3:15 for full time children, 35 to 40 hours a week for teachers. This opening offers several weeks of Summer session while team teaching to form our classes for the 2023-2024 school year. As a small school we are a whole school community team. Each teacher brings talents and ideas to share and we collaborate on planning.

Our Montessori guides are the lead teachers for each class. We require a MACTE recognized Montessori credential and experience in classroom and curriculum management. Teaching assistants include ECE guides and Montessori Interns, supervised by the lead teacher. We are an inclusive school and work together to welcome and guide every child on their path of learning. Family engagement is encouraged with opportunities for volunteering, classroom observations and parent-teacher conferences as well as school events.

Discovery Montessori is in our 40th year as a neighborhood school serving local families of Magnolia, Queen Anne and Ballard. Our location includes outdoor play and gardening, walks to the Public Library and short bus rides to Discovery Park. We are a licensed Early Childhood Center and hold an Early Achiever's status that supports the state sponsored scholarships for ECE and Montessori education courses.

Compensation for a full time Montessori Guide is a range of $45 K to $65 K yearly commensurate with experience & education.
