American Montessori Society 2008 Fall Conference
“Montessori: Excellence in Action”
November 13 – 16, 2008 Hyatt Regency Orange County Garden Grove
(1.5 miles south of Disneyland)

AMS senior director of teacher education, Doris Sommer, and the AMS senior director for school accreditation and member services, Marie Conti, have led the Conference Committee in organizing an outstanding selection of workshops for teachers of all age levels, heads of schools and other administrators, teacher educators, student teachers, and parents. The conference will start with a Social Hour on Thursday evening from 6 – 7 PM. This will be a wonderful opportunity for conference attendees who arriving in Garden Grove before Friday to connect with one another over pre-dinner snacks and a cash bar. On Saturday, keynote speaker Jane Nelsen—licensed marriage, family, and child therapist, and author or coauthor of 18 books—will present a keynote address on “Positive Discipline for Developing Capable Young People”
• Montessorians from all Montessori organizations and schools, as well as other interested colleagues and parents, are warmly welcomed.
• Plan ahead for these exciting days of professional growth and networking.

• Saturday night special: “Let’s Party!” Dancing and mingling from 7:30 – 11 PM.

Help Montessori grow in Uganda!

Two local Montessorians, Heather Braaten (The Learning Tree) and Susan Ennaro (formerly of St. Nicholas), will be traveling to Entebbe, Uganda to volunteer at the Victoria Montessori School in May.  This is the first and only Montessori school in Uganda.  They will be at the Sharing Fair with information about the school and are asking for help procuring Montessori materials to bring to Africa.  If you are interested in learning more or making a donation, please contact Heather at Heather_Braaten@hotmail.com.
